New Look for Kenan-Flagler Login

As part of the final stages in the Office 365 rollout to the school, we are moving to Microsoft Authentication on Thursday, February 11th. This account login tool will give us better cross-application capabilities and multi-factor authentication options for more data security.

Once it is live, you will notice a new look to the login screen of Microsoft Outlook and other Kenan-Flagler applications.  Many of you have already seen this screen and use this login, but some are new to its interface.

OLD: Instead of the familiar blue Kenan-Flagler sign in page:

NEW: You will now see a Kenan-Flagler-branded sign in window.

This new window will ask you to sign in with your UserPrincipalName (otherwise known as the UPN) instead of your Kenan-Flagler email address UPN is simply your username.

It is in this format:

(your Kenan-Flagler username)@business.unc.edu

You will then be asked for your Kenan-Flagler password.  Enter it and click Sign in

Please contact us at itservicedesk@kenan-flagler.unc.edu if you have any questions or difficulty logging into your email.

Perpetual Microsoft Office license from UNC Software Distribution

UNC-Chapel Hill students receive a free copy of the Microsoft Office suite.  Note, this suite does not include 365 Services such as OneDrive, but does include the ability to download and use Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel apps after you’ve graduated, as students lose access to their KFBS Office 365 licenses after graduation.  This suite can follow you after you graduate, but you must assign the license to a personal email address.Note: Failure to update your KFBS email address in Connect Carolina will result in a loop, and you will be unable to download Microsoft Office unless you have a main campus HeelMail address.  We recommend uninstalling all previous Office versions prior to installing a new one.Connect Carolinahttps://connectcarolina.unc.edu

How to Request Access to Tableau Dashboards

The Tableau dashboard request process is integrated into MyKE. We hope you will find it convenient and easy to use.

Part of our role in Data Governance is to assure that our data is kept secure, and it is used by those whose business needs require it in their day-to-day operational duties. As part of our due diligence, we require anyone requesting access to dashboard data provide business justification as to why they need access to the data. You will also be required to attest to the fact that you have read the Kenan Flagler security policies, have taken FERPA training and you understand the use, storage and transmission of sensitive information. Your request is then sent to our Data custodian for review. You will receive notification about your request as soon as the process is complete.

If it has been over 12 months since you were last approved for access or you have a change in duties, we require that you request access again.

How to request Tableau dashboard access:
  • Tableau Dashboard Data Access Request
  • Open My IT Requests > Tableau
  • Using the dropdown menu choose the dashboard
  • Provide a business justification for the access request
  • Click on the terms and requirements link to read data responsibility requirements. Click in the box to acknowledge your agreement to the data attestation terms.
  • Click Send
A request must be submitted for each Tableau dashboard needed. You will receive notification along with a welcome packet containing access information once the request has been approved. If the request is denied, communications will include a reason for the denial.

If you have any questions or if you need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the DIA team at dia@kenan-flagler.unc.edu.
