Reserve a Study Room

The study room availability can be viewed through Outlook or webmail.

There are 34 group study rooms on the first floor of McColl that can be reserved by UNC Kenan-Flagler students. These rooms have big screen monitors and whiteboards, so they are great for group work.

The study room reservations are all managed by the individual programs while the hardware within the rooms is maintained by the IT Department.

If you experience any issues with reservations or would like to submit a feedback on the reservation process, please contact your program.

If you experience any technical issues or issues with the room itself, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Guidelines

  • Rooms can be reserved by all ALL UNC Kenan-Flagler students: Undergraduate Business, MAC, EMBA and MBA
  • Advanced booking - reserve rooms up to 14 days ahead of time
  • For groups only - not for individual study - there are individual study rooms in the sitting area outside of the Graduate Student Lounge
  • Reservations have priority, please leave courteously
  • Two hour time limit per group
  • Leave rooms clean

Use of the Monitor in the Room

  • There is an HDMI input with an adapter ring that should allow any type of computer to display.
  • If you have any issues or questions please contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.

Check Availability

You can check availability in a rooms Free/Busy information when you add it to your meeting in Outlook. More information on that is below.

Make a Reservation

You can use Outlook on your computer or webmail to reserve a study room.Please click on an option below to expand it and see more information about reserving a room.
  1. Open your Calendar
  2. Click on New Event
  3. Click on Add Required People: enter the attendees
  4. Click Add a Location
  5. Click Browse more Rooms
  6. On the bottom left of the window you will see a list of suggested Study Rooms
  7. Select one of the available rooms
  8. Click the Scheduling Assistant button, and you will see the availability of the room
  9. Choose your time block at the top – anything filled in with color is reserved. Note that you are limited to reserving a single room for 2 hours maximum.
  10. Click the Done button in the upper left to complete your reservation
  11. Click Send to send the invite to the attendees. You will then see the reservation appear on your calendar.

  4. Click the Scheduling Assistant tab
  5. To add the meeting attendees click Add required attendee and type a name to find the person in the address book.  Click on the person to add them.
  6. To add a room, click Room Finder

  7. A panel on the right should appear. Scroll down the list of McColl Study Rooms and click on any you'd like to see the availability of to add them to your rooms list.

  8. You can see the availability of the room you added, anything filled in with color is reserved. You can then set your time and date for the reservation. Do not forget to remove any additional rooms you will not be reserving, you are limited to reserving a single room for 2 hours maximum.
  9. Click the Meeting tab to finish adding details to your meeting, such as a subject or an email body.

  10. Click Send to submit your request.
You have successfully submitted a request to reserve a room. You will receive an email confirmation once the room has been booked in your name.

  2. Click the New Event button at the top.

  3. Click on the Scheduling Assistant tab in the new window that opens.

  4. To add the meeting attendees click Add required attendee and type a name to find the person in the address book.  Click on the person to add them.

  5. Add a room by clicking the Add a room button then click Browse with Room Finder.

  6. A panel on the right should appear. Scroll down the list of McColl Study Rooms and click on any you'd like to see the availability of to add them to your rooms list.

  8. Click the Done button at the top left of the window to return to the meeting invite screen.  You have added any additional details you can submit the request by clicking Send.
