Reserve a Study Room

The study room availability can be viewed through Outlook, webmail, or through our study room availability page. There are 34 group study rooms on the first floor of McColl that can be reserved by UNC Kenan-Flagler students. These rooms have big screen monitors and whiteboards, so they are great for group work. The study room reservations are all managed by the individual programs while the hardware within the rooms is maintained by the IT Department. If you experience any issues with reservations or would like to submit a feedback on the reservation process, please contact your program. If you experience any technical issues or issues with the room itself, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Guidelines

  • Rooms can be reserved by all ALL UNC Kenan-Flagler students: Undergraduate Business, MAC, EMBA and MBA
  • Advanced booking - reserve rooms up to 14 days ahead of time
  • For groups only - not for individual study - there are individual study rooms in the sitting area outside of the Graduate Student Lounge
  • Reservations have priority, please leave courteously
  • Two hour time limit per group
  • Leave rooms clean

Use of the Monitor in the Room

  • There is an HDMI input with an adapter ring that should allow any type of computer to display.

Check Availability

To quickly check room availability, click view our study room availability page. This page will show the availability for all of the rooms in a 12 hour time window. You can also see Free/Busy information for a room when you add it to your meeting in Outlook. More information on that is below.

Make a Reservation

You can use Outlook on your computer or Web Mail to reserve a study room. Please click on an option below to expand it and see more information about reserving a room.

INSTRUCTIONS


Outlook 2016 (Mac)

1. Open your Calendar 2. Click the icons to create a new Appointment or Meeting 3. Click Scheduling Assistant 4. Click the + (plus) next to Add Room in the Recent Rooms group 5. In the search bar type McColl Study Room to see the list of study rooms in the address book. 6. You can see the availability of the room you added, anything filled in with color is reserved. You can then set your time and date for the reservation. Do not forget to put a check mark next to the room you would like to book. 7. Click Send. You have successfully submitted a request to reserve a room. You will receive an email confirmation once the room has been booked in your name.

Outlook 2016 (Windows)

1. Open your Calendar 2. Click New Appointment or New Meeting 3. Click Scheduling Assistant 4. Click Add Rooms at the bottom left of the box 5. In the list of rooms, double click on the room you want to reserve and click OK. 6. You can see the availability of the room you added, anything filled in with color is reserved. You can then set your time and date for the reservation. Do not forget to put a check mark next to the room you would like to book. 7. Click Save & Close. You have successfully submitted a request to reserve a room. You will receive an email confirmation once the room has been booked in your name.

Webmail

1. Open your Calendar 2. Click the New button at the top and select Appointment or Meeting Request. 3. Click on the Scheduling Assistant tab in the new window that opens. 4. To add the meeting attendees you can either type the attendees’ names into the list where it says Add a name or click the Select Attendees… button above your name to select them from the address book. 5. Add a room by clicking the Select Rooms button and choosing More. 6. In the new window, scroll down to the McColl Study Rooms. Double click on the room you want to add to your meeting and click OK. You will see the room listed under Selected Rooms. 7. You can see the availability of the room you added, anything filled in with color is reserved. You can then set your time and date for the reservation. Do not forget to put a check mark next to the room you would like to book. 8. Click the Send button at the top left of the window to send the invitation and reserve the room.  You will receive an email confirmation once the room has been booked in your name.
